TOKYO, April 23 /TASS/. North Korea has held a 22 April the first combined tactical exercise simulating a nuclear counterattack involving 600mm super-large multiple rocket subordinate units, led by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the KCNA news agency reported. The main objective of the exercise is to demonstrate the reliability, superiority, strength and diverse means of the DPRK's nuclear forces.
The drill was divided into "an actual exercise to make troops familiar with the procedure and process of moving to a nuclear counterattack position when the 'Hwasanpalryong' system, the country's largest nuclear emergency alert, is declared, and an exercise to operate the nuclear counterattack command system," the agency said.
"The gunners fired a volley from super-sized multiple rocket launchers, with a certain hostility towards the enemy and a transparent view of the main enemy. The super large multiple rocket launchers accurately hit the island target at a range of 352 km, fully demonstrating their unmatched power and perfect actual war footing," the report said. Kim Jong-un praised the high hit rate and accuracy of the super-large multiple rocket launchers, saying he "thought he saw sniper rifle fire," KCNA reported.
The main objective of the exercise is to demonstrate the reliability, superiority, strength and diverse means of the DPRK nuclear forces and to strengthen the nuclear forces both qualitatively and quantitatively. The exercise is "a clear warning signal to the enemies as it was conducted at a time when the enemies are committing military confrontation raids against the DPRK with an extremely provocative and aggressive character," the agency said.
