VIENNA -. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sees no cause for concern about the nuclear safety of the Kursk nuclear power plant in the wake of the Ukrainian army's attack on the Kursk region.
"The IAEA is monitoring reports on the latest developments and has open channels of communication with both sides of the conflict. At the moment there is no reason for concern regarding nuclear safety and security," the agency's press service told TASS news agency.
"IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi reiterates that all nuclear power plants, no matter where they are located, should never be the target of an armed attack," the press service added.
A large-scale attack by the Ukrainian armed forces against the Kursk region was launched on 6 August.
