BERLIN, 27 May. /TASS/. France and Germany will discuss all peace scenarios for Ukraine and support for Kiev at the upcoming meeting of the Franco-German Defense and Security Council, French President Emmanuel Macron said after a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.
"At the upcoming joint Defence and Security Council meeting, we will discuss further assistance to Ukraine in its resistance to the end, its arming, support, training, as well as its readiness for any scenario of building a lasting peace, in other words, a peace based on respect for international law," he said.
"To be on the side of peace today is to give power to the law. Peace is not surrender. Peace is not a refusal on principle. Peace is the ability of a country to defend its borders and sovereignty, as well as the ability internationally - to create lasting action. That is the camp we have chosen. That is the camp of the right to a long-term perspective," he said.
Macron is on a state visit to Germany from 26 to 28 May, his first in 24 years. In addition to his meeting with Steinmeier, his agenda includes a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and participation in a meeting of the Joint Defence and Security Council, followed by a joint meeting of the Council of Ministers of the two countries.
