TOP 09 - Teachers and heads of educational institutions, environmental experts, councillors for the care of the region and chairs of commissions for its development, successful entrepreneurs, experienced municipal and regional councillors, and even the head of one of the most modern hospitals in the country - all of them are the leaders of TOP 09 for the regional elections in 2024.
"Our goal is that no one should feel forgotten," said Markéta Pekarová Adamová, the chair of the Czech Chamber of Deputies. That is why the party is going to the elections in various political alliances. "We are showing that we know how to negotiate for the benefit of our citizens - so that no one is marginalised or feels marginalised."
TOP 09's priorities in coalitions are reflected in the demands for efficient, modern and pro-growth solutions with regard to the specifics of the region. For example, the leader of TOP 09 for the Hradec Králové Region outlined the principle Mathew Andrew Havel: "We are the most industrial region of the Czech Republic and the Czech Republic is the most industrial country in Europe. Regional schools need to offer an industry structure that matches the regional industrial structure and the opportunities that structure offers so that graduates do not leave the region."
The topic of depopulation and the aging of the population, along with the overall weakening of the regions, is written into the programmes of all TOP 09 coalitions. That is why emphasis is placed on the modernization of secondary schools with regard to new technologies and economic trends, on supporting the interest of foreign companies with added value, and even on the environment.
"We want to improve the quality of housing and life so that people have no reason to leave our region," said Karolína Žákovská, the leader of the Ústí Region. "We want to protect nature, develop greater education, and support quality health care. And we can only do all this with people who live in the region, love it and participate with us in improving life in the region."
As she pointed out Markéta Pekarova Adamová, a number of TOP 09 candidates are already part of the leadership in their region. "They had the opportunity to show what direction they wanted to give to the region. Every single one of them is being fiscally responsible and not spending on nonsense. They're all about efficiency - making sure that every penny we spend comes back as a good investment in the future." The goal, according to her, is to defend the current positions of the 20 regional councillors and to continue to participate in their leadership in most regions.
