President Trump is committed to ending the Russia-Ukraine war and reaching a solution that will lead to a lasting peace, not just a temporary interruption. Monday 24 February marks three years since the Russian-Ukrainian war. This inThe war isŽ tpulls pempirelong and standingboth Ukraine and Russia pempireso many.
The United States has proposed a simple, historic resolution at the United Nations that we urge all Member States to support to pave the way for peace. This resolution is in line with President Trump's view that the UN must return to its core purpose as enshrined in the UN Charter, which is to maintain international peace and security, including through the peaceful resolution of disputes. If the UN is truly committed to its original purpose, we must recognise that, while there may be problems, the goal of lasting peace remains achievable. By supporting this resolution, we affirm that this conflict is terrible, that the UN can help to end it and that peace is possible.
We firmly believe that the moment has come to commit to ending the war. This is our opportunity to create real momentum towards peace. We call on all UN Member States to join this solemn effort.
