Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, visited the Macao Museum on Thursday morning. She was accompanied on the tour by Cheng Soo Ching, wife of Ho Yat Seng, executive director of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
During the visit, the two ladies viewed exhibitions that showcase Macau's rich history and cultural heritage. The museum offers a glimpse of the unique blend of Chinese and Portuguese culture that characterises this special administrative region.
The visit was part of a side programme to mark the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to Chinese administration. Peng Liyuan, known for her support of arts and cultural exchanges, once again expressed her appreciation for the preservation and promotion of Macau's traditional and modern cultural wealth.
The visit underlined the importance of cultural cooperation and exchange between Macau and mainland China, a key element of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.
