"Today I received Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Straka Academy. We are strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in the areas of trade, investment, science, education, tourism and defence. Our trade turnover reached a record $4 billion last year and we aim to grow it further. An important project is the Skoda Auto factory in Vietnam. I had the opportunity to visit the site in person two years ago when it started. The factory is due to start production this year. Deliveries of L-39 aircraft are also continuing and Sev.en Global Investments' investment in Vietnam's Mong Duong 2 power plant has been completed. said Fiala on your X profile.

The Czech Republic and Vietnam commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. "We do not have such close relations with any other Asian country as with Vietnam. Our relations are developing successfully and the intensity of contacts at various levels is increasing. This is matched by the turnover of bilateral trade, which last year was a record high, exceeding $4 billion. It is gratifying that Czech companies are very interested in further investment in Vietnam. For all these reasons, we are taking our relations to a new strategic level," said the Prime Minister.
The joint declaration on upgrading the relationship to a strategic partnership covers in particular strengthening cooperation in defence and security, economic partnership, trade and investment relations, education, science and technology, environment, natural resources and healthcare, tourism, culture and other areas.
The prime ministers followed up on their last meeting in Hanoi two years ago. Since then, a number of joint projects have been taken forward. "For example, I started the construction of the Skoda Auto plant in Quan Nin province the year before last. This March, the carmaker is already planning to start the production line. It is one of those projects that will raise Czech-Vietnamese economic cooperation to a new higher level. We are also making deliveries of L-39 aircraft, and we have the possibility of delivering other machines," added Prime Minister Fiala.
The two countries have concluded an agreement on cooperation in the field of education, which, among other things, promotes direct cooperation between higher education institutions and enables mutual exchanges of academic staff and students. An agreement was also concluded on the training of Vietjet pilots at the F-Air flight school.
The great interest of companies in the development of business relations is also shown by the participation at today's business forum in Prague, which was attended by representatives of 130 companies from both countries. Vietnam is the Czech Republic's most important trading partner in Southeast Asia. The potential for mutual cooperation is huge. Czech and Vietnamese companies are already cooperating in the automotive, energy and defence industries, and there is also close cooperation in the mining industry and the aviation sector. "We see great potential in the petrochemical industry, for example in expanding the capacity of Vietnamese refineries. Our companies have a lot of experience in this on a global scale. We can also offer experience and technology in the nuclear power sector. The next step we discussed could be the introduction of a direct air route between Prague and Hanoi, which would have a positive impact on trade, investment and tourism. As has already been done with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan," said the Prime Minister.
The joint meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek, Minister of Finance Zbyněk Stanjura, Minister of Industry and Trade Lukáš Vlček, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mikuláš Bek and their Vietnamese counterparts.
