In accordance with the agreement, Prime Minister Robert Fico today handed over the signatures of the four non-attached MPs around Rudolf Huliak to Slovak President Petr Pellegrini, thus securing the necessary 76 votes of the coalition MPs and a majority in the National Council of the Slovak Republic (NC SR). At the same time, he submitted to the President a proposal for the dismissal of Slovak Minister of Sport and Tourism Dusan Keketi, who should be replaced by non-attached MP Rudolf Huliak.
The President of the Slovak Republic also recalled that it was important to resolve the issue of the election of the President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic as part of the solution of personnel issues in the Government. "In view of the nomination, I will invite Mr. Huliak to the Presidential Palace for a personal consultation in the near future," Pellegrini said. No date has yet been set for the constitutional act of dismissal and appointment of the minister.
Fico also reported on the meeting on Facebook:
"A short while ago I visited the President of the Slovak Republic, Mr Pellegrini, and handed him a proposal for personnel changes in the Government of the Slovak Republic. The proposal also includes a declaration of support for the Government of the Slovak Republic and its programme declaration, signed by four non-attached members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
I respect both the constitutional powers of the President and the procedure that has been outlined in relation to the staffing proposal that has been submitted. I am convinced that it is only a matter of a short time before I present him with a second personnel proposal and a second declaration of support for the Government.
I agree with the President of the Slovak Republic that the election of the President of the National Council could be part of the decision-making process on these personnel proposals."
Today's Fico Announcements builds on what the same place He told a week ago:
"The governing parties SMER-SD, HLAS-SD and SNS have agreed to change the coalition agreement.
Due to the reduction in the number of members of the HLAS-SD and SNS parliamentary caucuses, SMER-SD party chair Robert Fico, HLAS-SD party chair Matúš Šutaj Eštok and SNS party chair Andrej Danko signed an amendment to the coalition agreement, according to which the current ratio of the distribution of government members, 7 (SMER-SD) 7 (HLAS-SD) 3 (SNS), is changed to 9 (SMER-SD) 6 (HLAS-SD) 2 (SNS).
As a result of this change, SMER-SD gained political influence over the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatics and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
SMER-SD will use this political influence to stabilize the governing coalition and to regain the majority of the governing coalition in the National Council of the Slovak Republic."
