Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday wished Spring Festival to members of non-communist political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personalities without party affiliation and other members of the united front.
Xi, who is also China's president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, expressed his wish during an annual meeting with non-members of the CPC at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi stressed that China will implement more proactive and effective macroeconomic policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-sufficiency and strength in science and technology to maintain healthy social and economic development in 2025.
He called on non-communist political parties, ACFIC and non-partisan personalities to focus on key tasks, serve the overall interests of the country and use their unique strengths to mobilize broader support, build consensus and gather wisdom and strength.
Xi stressed the importance of achieving the goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) in 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years.
He also expressed the hope that non-CPC members will mobilize all positive forces to promote development and actively contribute to deepening reforms, promoting quality development and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging issues in overseeing the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem.
He added that ACFIC should guide the private sector to maintain entrepreneurial enthusiasm, boost confidence in development, and create and improve modern enterprise systems with distinctive Chinese features.
