Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday visited the PLA Northern Regional Command ahead of the Spring Festival celebrations.
President Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), sent his New Year wishes to all soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and People's Armed Forces, civilian personnel serving in the military, militia members and reservists on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
On Friday morning, Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He then spoke via video link to troop leaders across the military.
The officers and soldiers of each unit briefed Xi in turn on their combat readiness and mission accomplishment duties. Xi fully appreciated their work.
Xi said the military should strengthen the execution of its combat duties to be able to effectively respond to any emergency situations and protect national security and social stability during the holidays.
