Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday highlighted the growing importance of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in international cooperation.
"As the only region where Chinese and Portuguese are official languages, Macau serves as a key platform for trade and economic cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Its 'Historic Centre of Macau,' which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has become a popular destination for tourists from all over the world," President Xi said.
He made the remarks during a ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to Chinese administration and the inauguration of the sixth Macau government.
The President highlighted Macau's unique position as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and its important role in promoting cultural tourism, which attracts visitors from all over the world. This approach contributes to strengthening the region's economy and supports the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.
