BRATISLAVA, April 16 /TASS/. Slovakia will oppose Ukraine's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance, the country's Prime Minister Robert Fico told a press conference.
"Ukraine can say, 'We want to join NATO.' It will be their own decision. We say that the documents [on Ukraine's accession to NATO] will not be ratified in Parliament because Slovakia needs a neutral Ukraine. Slovakia's interests will be threatened if Ukraine becomes a NATO member," Fico said.
Slovakia, meanwhile, supports Ukraine's accession to the European Union. The Slovak prime minister expressed his hope that Brussels and Kiev would start talks on the launch of this process as soon as possible.
