Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović and Czech Ambassador to Belgrade Jan Bondy exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Economy and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade today in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović and Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević, as well as other members of the delegations of both countries, also attended the exchange of documents at the Serbian Palace.
In his speech at the press conference, Vučić said that the two countries have extremely good relations and that there is a strong closeness between the Serbian and Czech peoples.
The President said that he had asked the Czech Prime Minister to vote in favour of opening Cluster 3 in the framework of negotiations on Serbia's membership in the European Union, adding that they had also discussed transport, infrastructure, the pharmaceutical industry, cooperation in the defence industry, nuclear power plants and minerals.
Fiala stressed that the Czech Republic is providing Serbia with long-term and permanent support on the path to EU membership and noted that the Western Balkan countries should not remain at the door of the EU and that Serbia is taking all the necessary steps to become a member.
