MOSCOW, January 29 /TASS/. Moscow and Washington are currently not holding a dialogue on Syria, a special Russian presidential envoy for the Syrian settlement Alexander Lavrentiev.
"There is no dialogue on Syria, but there is a mechanism of deconfliction between Russia and the United States in Syria. Contacts are maintained, but only through this mechanism between the commander of our group in Syria and the command of the so-called international coalition," he said.
Lavrentiev added that Russia will hold the next Astana format summit (Moscow, Ankara, Tehran) on Syria on its territory.
Earlier, Lavrentiev indicated that Russia may resume negotiations with the US on Syria if Washington demonstrates proper readiness. He further stated that all contacts between the countries were terminated on the initiative of the US side.
