Performance of Mr. Martin Jedlicka
Dear Sir/Madam,
on the current discussion at the Prague City Council and on the current discussion on the topic of secondary school entrance exams in general, I would like to offer you quotes and comments from an expert, Mr. Jan Korda, long-time principal of Lyčkovo náměstí Primary School.
Mr. Jan Korda has been the principal of Lyčkovo náměstí Primary School in Prague Karlín for the last 20 years. He has also actively tried to influence the quality of Czech education as the president of the Association of the Teaching Profession of the Czech Republic (APU), and he also lectures on this topic at conferences and at the Faculty of Education of Charles University.
Korda is one of the proponents of the so-called curriculum reform, which aims to fundamentally change education and education policy with an emphasis on the meaningfulness of teaching and the effectiveness of results.
Jan Korda will run for the Senate of the Czech Republic for TOP 09 in constituency 23.
"It is necessary to start thinking about changing the form of the entrance exams and, hand in hand with that, the way of assessment in primary schools, because it is no secret that an A in one school has a different value than an A in other schools."
"A child must be motivated to achieve the highest possible educational goals throughout their studies, not just just just before the entrance exam, and should enjoy learning, not be stressed."
"A child's talent is not dependent on the socio-economic status of the family, everyone has talent, we just don't know how to look for it. And this is an important role for schools!"
Yours sincerely
Martin Jedlička
Chairman of RO TOP 09 Prague 8
