The Great American Comeback continues, but we still need to make more progress. Under my tenure, 15.6 million more Americans have the dignity and respect that comes with work. Unemployment has been at or below 4 % for 30 months - the longest period in 50 years. And a record high proportion of working-age women have jobs.
I will continue to fight to reduce costs for families like the ones I grew up in in Scranton. I will fight corporate greed by challenging corporations with record profits to lower prices - as Target and Walmart have done with food prices. I will fight for more affordable rents by building 2 million new homes. I'm fighting to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs like insulin and inhalers.
Republicans in Congress have a different vision - a vision that puts billionaires and special interests first. The Republican plan would raise inflation by repealing the Affordable Care Act, side with Big Oil (the Big Six oil and gas tycoons from Europe and the US) to raise utility bills, let big banks steal from Americans, and inflate the debt by cutting taxes for billionaires. I will never stop fighting for Scranton - not for Park Avenue.
