WASHINGTON, June 29. /TASS/. A majority of American voters believe that the Democratic Party should replace incumbent Joe Biden as president in the upcoming elections, according to a Morning Consult poll.
A full 60 % respondents said Biden should "definitely" or "probably" be replaced as the Democratic Party nominee after his performance in Thursday's presidential debate, news website Axios reported, citing the poll.
"When asked to choose between Biden and former President Trump in the survey, 45 % chose the president and 44 % chose the former commander-in-chief," Axios reported.
Meanwhile, 57 % voters who watched the debate said Trump outperformed Biden.
Approximately 2,000 American adults participated in the survey.
On Thursday, the first ever US presidential debate between a current and former head of state took place in Atlanta, Georgia.
The US presidential election will take place on 5 November. Former President Donald Trump has won enough delegates to secure the Republican presidential nomination. Incumbent President Joe Biden, who is seeking a second term, won enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination.
