Brno, 7 January 2025 - Yesterday, 6 January 2025, the Supreme State Prosecutor Igor Stříž personally handed over his resignation as State Prosecutor to Justice Minister Pavel Blažek. The reasons for this step are purely personal and family.
In accordance with the statutory provisions, Igor Stříž is now subject to a resignation period which will expire on 31 March 2025. This is also the date on which his tenure as Chief State Prosecutor will end.
"I have taken note of Igor Stříž's resignation. According to the law, he will leave office on 31 March. Until then, I will propose his successor to the government for approval so that a new chief prosecutor can be duly appointed for seven years as of 1 April 2025. I thanked Mr Stříž for the work he has done at the head of the prosecution system.," said the Minister of Justice Pavel Blažek on the X network.
The Supreme State Prosecutor personally commented on his decision at a short press briefing in the building of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office in Brno.
