The President of the Republic Petr Pavel devoted his working day to the environment. In the morning, he took a few hours to get acquainted with the game reserve in Lány, its problems and potential, and in the afternoon he discussed with experts at a round table.
The environment, nature conservation and adaptation to climate change are among the President's priorities. "I want not only to moderate the necessary discussion, but also to set an example myself, where possible," Petr Pavel said before the meeting.
According to President Pavel, the preserve offers an opportunity for the protection and promotion of biodiversity in various ecosystems, and he would like to see the spontaneous and spontaneous development of the forest, where rare animal and plant species will live in peace. He would like to make the preserve more accessible to the public and help find a way to reconcile this with the conservation regime and large animal husbandry.
One of the topics of the round table was the adjacent area of Křivoklátsko. The experts and the President also talked about the creation of the Křivoklát National Park, the only park that will be entirely surrounded by Czech territory. They also talked about how to link the care of the Lánya area with the care of the national park.
"The nature of the Křivoklátsko region and its values are worth protecting in the national park, and a well-chosen approach in the Lánská obora can also contribute to this," President Paul said after the meeting.
At the end of the debate on nature protection in the Czech Republic, the Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík and the directors of the national parks in the Czech Republic joined the debate.
