On Thursday, 12 December 2024, President of the Republic Petr Pavel welcomed Senate President Miloš Vystrčil, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarova Adamová, Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský to Prague Castle for a regular meeting of the highest constitutional officials.

Appearance the President at a press conference after a meeting with top constitutional officials
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,
we met today for the fourth time to coordinate foreign policy at the level of the highest constitutional officials and the Foreign Minister. It is nothing new that the Government is responsible for setting the guidelines and principles of foreign policy, but its performance is distributed and it is therefore also good if it is well coordinated. This is the fourth time we have met in this format. I would like to commend the helpfulness in coordinating our foreign activities so that the Czech Republic speaks with one voice, not only externally, but also in relation to our citizens. We have touched on those crucial issues that affect the security and future prosperity of the Czech Republic, and of course, first and foremost, the ongoing war in Ukraine, but also conflicts in other countries such as Syria, Lebanon and other security and foreign policy issues that affect the future of our country.
We also touched on what impact the new US administration will have on the overall foreign policy and security situation. The fact that the United States is and remains an indispensable actor in the foreign policy sphere and that it is in our interest not only to maintain but to further develop good relations with the United States, its interdependence with Europe, so that together, because we need the United States and the United States needs Europe, we can meet the security challenges of the contemporary world. We have also coordinated our foreign travel, both in terms of geographical distribution, time, but also in terms of content and the visits that will come to us from abroad. I think that is enough for an introduction and I will also leave space for others to comment.
