President Xi Jinping has promised that the Chinese people will make greater achievements and contribute to the peace and development of mankind. He made the remarks at a reception in Beijing to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, stressed that the central task of China's new path is to build a strong country and achieve national rebirth through China's modernization. He also stressed the importance of peaceful development, continued reform and expanding opening to the world.
The president also called for maintaining long-term prosperity in Hong Kong and Macau and deepening economic and cultural exchanges between mainland China and Taiwan. Finally, he stressed the need to create a multipolar world order that benefits all and to promote initiatives to promote global development, security and civilization.
President Xi warned that there may be risks and challenges on the road ahead for which the country must be prepared and called for firmly overcoming uncertainties.
