Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, at the National Conference on National Unity and Progress in Beijing, called for drawing on role models to strengthen ethnic unity and development.
Xi stressed the need to fully implement the ideas of socialism with Chinese specifics in the new era, especially strengthening work in the field of ethnic politics. Strengthening the sense of unity of the Chinese nation and promoting the development of the Party's ethnic work is a key goal.
He also stressed the importance of the cohesion of all ethnic groups in China and their role in building a strong country and achieving common prosperity and well-being. According to Xi, the Chinese nation is a nation with a history of more than five thousand years, which has worked together to build China's unique culture and national spirit.
He concluded by calling for further strengthening of ethnic relations and training of minority talents so that no ethnic group would be left behind in Chinese-style modernization.
