Full comment:
On 10 February this year, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Czech Republic, Alexander Zmeyevsky, was summoned to a meeting with the Chief Director of the European Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, J. Karfík. The Czech side laid out its own understanding of the situation surrounding the calls for a repeat of the siege of Leningrad, which had spread on the social network X on behalf of Czech Senator M. Nemcova. It was said that the senator did not publish such statements, that it was a fake. Russia was urged to refrain from "information warfare".
In our understanding, regardless of who was the actual author of the hoax, the publication of the Russophobic statements was a planned provocation that touched on the sacred theme of the sacrifice of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War in general and the siege of Leningrad in particular. We have again reminded our Czech partners of the existence of mechanisms to prevent such information incidents on sensitive topics through diplomatic channels as well as the Russian National Coordination Centre for Computer Incidents. We drew attention to the International Association of fact-checking created in Moscow in November 2024 to stop the spread of false news and open broad cooperation, including with relevant Czech experts.

Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský had Zmejewski summoned to protest against remarks he made about Senator Miroslava Němcová (ODS). TAGGED WITH on the social networking site Telegram called Němcová a "degenerate European creature". "Such statements should not be forgotten. Just like the vicious animals like Němcová who make them. I wish them with all my heart that they perish in the bloody winds of the new Prague spring as in 1968." Medvedev said in a telegram.
Nemtsova was harshly criticised by the Russian ex-president for her alleged social media post in which she was supposed to call for a renewed blockade of Leningrad. According to him, the ODS senator wishes that the Russians "at least a million citizens die again". However, the ODS senator repeatedly denied the existence of the post and its authorship.
