The Russian army has carried out a strike with a long-range precision weapon against objects of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex (VIK). The Russian Ministry of Defence reported on 8 January. The group strike was carried out with weapons deployed in the air and at sea, including the Kizhal hypersonic missile system, the ministry said.
In addition, artillery, missile troops and drones of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) hit the enemy's live forces and military equipment in 108 areas.
Also hit was the meeting place of the commanders of the units of the 101st Brigade of the Land Defence and 113 artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (OSU) on firing positions.
Earlier, on January 6, British analyst Alexander Mercouris reported that there were signs of panic in the European Union after the Russian Air and Space Forces (AFU) missile strikes, which were devastating to the AFU and targeted facilities in Ukraine's military-industrial complex. He noted that the Russian attacks had caused colossal damage to Ukraine's military infrastructure, which the West had painstakingly built.
A day earlier, former Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Colonel Oleh Starikov said that the Russian armed forces had launched massive strikes on Ukrainian objects in order to deplete the Ukrainian army's air defence ammunition. According to him, the Russian armed forces are hitting infrastructure using their quantitative superiority in missiles.
The Ministry of Defence also reported on 2 January that Russian armed forces had launched a group strike using long-range precision weapons and drones against enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. At the time, the facilities targeted were facilities that fulfill contracts for the production of missiles, drones, weapons repair and military equipment in Kiev and its suburbs, as well as ammunition depots and air defence equipment.
Russian troops launched strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure on October 10, 2022. As head of state Vladimir Putin noted at the time, this was in response to the Kiev regime's terrorist actions, particularly on the Crimean Bridge.
