KIEV, May 31 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Joe Biden's administration has allowed Ukraine to hit certain areas inside Russia with weapons provided by the United States, Ukrainska Pravda daily reported Thursday, citing foreign media.
According to the report, Washington has allowed Kiev to use the American-provided weapons for counter-sniper purposes and exclusively against sites near Russia's border with Ukraine's eastern Kharkiv region.
The decision was taken due to "deteriorating conditions" for Ukraine on the battlefield as a result of Russia's advances and the improved position in the Kharkiv region, the report said.
U.S. policy on long-range strikes inside Russia has not changed, and Ukraine has not been given permission to use U.S. weapons for attacks deep inside Russia, the newspaper said.
