At a press conference prior to the Chamber of Deputies meeting, the ANO movement sharply criticized the current government for its approach to military contracts, green policy and the personnel situation at the ministries.
Military contracts without the participation of Czech industry
Karel Havlicek pointed out that the declared 40% share of Czech suppliers in the army contract for CV-90 combat vehicles was not fulfilled. The actual share is only 11 %, while the other 29 % are, according to him, only a "play on Czech suppliers" through the state enterprise VOP. Havlicek described the situation as a failure of industrial policy and promised to correct it if ANO returns to government.
Criticism of "green bureaucracy"
Alena Schillerová drew attention to the new bureaucratic obligations of Czech companies in the framework of sustainability, which she described as "green bullying". According to her, companies will have to invest in costly infrastructure and reporting, which will impact not only large companies but also smaller suppliers. She promised that YES would repeal these "nonsensical regulations".
Personnel crisis at the Ministry of Defence
Lubomír Metnar mentioned that the defence ministry is suffering from a personnel crisis and insufficient recruitment of soldiers. He criticised the defence minister for her inability to resolve conflicts within the ministry and to cooperate with the army. According to Metnar, the situation seriously threatens the functionality and effectiveness of the state's defence.
Tragedy at the Faculty of Philosophy
Jiří Mašek discussed the results of the commission of inquiry into the tragic event at the Faculty of Arts in December 2023. ANO published a rebuttal report that pointed out shortcomings in operational and tactical management before the shooting. Masek said measures must be taken to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
Representatives of the ANO movement have also promised that if they return to government they will ensure a more effective policy in the area of military procurement, sustainability and personnel management.
