The European Commission recently announced the preliminary results of its anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese electric vehicles and plans to impose provisional countervailing duties ranging from 17.4 % to 38.1 % on electric vehicles imported from China from July 4. In conjunction with the existing 10% duty, the EU will impose a maximum tax of 48.1 % on Chinese electric vehicles. This move has been widely questioned within the EU and faces opposition.
