We are going to the parliamentary elections TOGETHER! A memorandum on running together in the parliamentary elections was signed by representatives of ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09 on Monday 28 October at the Mánes Restaurant on Masaryk Embankment. The signing of the memorandum is, according to the chairmen, a symbolic and responsible expression of their common will to continue to go TOGETHER. According to the ODS chairman, SPOLU not only wants to run for office, but also to win, which is a prerequisite for completing the important reforms and modernisation of the country that this centre-right government has begun.
"By signing the memorandum, the representatives of the parties agreed that the SPOLU coalition is now, after four years, direct proof that it can not only compete and win in pre-election battles, but also cooperate responsibly on solutions that bring concrete results for society. After four years, our joint candidacy is now based on concrete results and experience, and is proof of our determination to build on and face the challenges ahead. "We are less than a year away from the elections. These elections will decide for a long time what the character of our country will be. We are here today to declare our common will to run in the SPOLU coalition. And our goal is clear - we don't just want to run, we want to win. To complete the reforms and modernisation of the country that this centre-right government has begun. But this will be preceded by elections in which we will fight for the character of our country. Voters will have a choice - either they will vote for pro-democratic forces that want to move the Czech Republic forward, or they will be tempted by the lying propaganda of the populists." He said Petr Fiala, Prime Minister and President of the Civic Democrats and followed up: "The Czech Republic is on the rise today. We are thriving. The economy is improving, we have the lowest unemployment, we have got rid of our dependence on Russia, we are strengthening our defence. We have got the labour market moving, we have restored respect for our country abroad. Together, we are doing what needs to be done. Often it is not easy. But in the context of the crises we have faced, we are doing the best we can. And we need to follow through. I am convinced that together we can do it."
According to the chairwoman of TOP 09 Markéta Pekarová Adamová the signing of the Memorandum on 28 October is an exceptional symbolism. "We are going in TOGETHER and offering people a clearly anchored and understandable policy. The SPOLU coalition has already proven in several elections that it is a functional project and that a politics of values can succeed. We are the only ones on the political scene who can defeat dangerous populism and the forces that want to lead us along the lines of Slovakia or Hungary. The SPOLU project also enables us to counter the unifying red left, which is dangerously close to the criminal Russian regime. Today we celebrate the Day of the Establishment of the Independent Czechoslovak State, and we must therefore remember more than ever that states are sustained by the ideals from which they were born. On the values of democracy, freedom, the rule of law and humanity. But behind these words, we must offer people a concrete vision and programme. In the months leading up to the elections, we want to explain to citizens not only the achievements to date, but more importantly, present a clear plan for the years ahead. By signing the Memorandum together, we are making it clear that TOP 09, ODS and KDU-ČSL want to win the elections again and finish the work they have done."
"Today's signing of the Memorandum confirms our common will to build on the successes of the past years and to remain true to the democratic values that bind us together and are our commitment. We are ready to present an agenda that will build on our common priorities and respond to the needs of the citizens of this country. The aim of the SPOLU coalition is to win the forthcoming parliamentary elections and to prevent the rise of populists and extremists in any form. The KDU-ČSL brings stability, responsibility and a guarantee that we will always honour the interests of the citizens to this cooperation." added the chairman of the KDU-ČSL Marek Výborný.
