According to chair Markéta Pekarová Adamová, TOP 09 has succeeded in becoming a relevant part of the political scene: "TOPka has given people the opportunity to vote for a responsible party whose program is based on modern solutions to current problems, but at the same time with a large overlap into the future. At the same time, we are taking as our own the issues that many others would prefer to keep quiet, lest they accidentally lose votes. We are already defending them in the second government. We have brought in and pushed through, among other things, postal voting, and with the third package we have already relieved people of the daily bureaucracy at the offices, the doctor's office, or even in business."
This does not mean that TOP 09 wants to be a party of seemingly small concerns. "There are a lot of reforms for a sustainable and modern state behind us. At the Ministry of Health, we have significantly slimmed down the bureaucratic apparatus and launched digitalisation with the EZ card, which will make people's lives easier and doctors' work more efficient. We are following a clear strategy for several years ahead. We are investing in science, but also in innovation and strategic technologies such as semiconductors that will help the Czech economy. We have also been involved in the preparation of the pension reform, which we will now push through in the Chamber of Deputies. We simply continue to fulfil the meaning of our acronym TOP - as intended by our founders Karel Schwarzenberg and Miroslav Kalousek - tradition, responsibility and prosperity." says Pekarová Adamová.
According to the Czech Science and Research Minister and one of the party's first members, Marek Ženíšek, TOP 09 is a stable party with a loyal electorate: "This is the second time we have been in government. We have strong representation in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, we have the third highest constitutional official, we have strong representation in the councils, we are in the European Parliament. We have come a long way and if I look back, it is a pleasant sight."
First Vice-Chair Vlastimil Válek, who began working with TOP 09 a year after the party was founded, is also looking back. "TOPka impressed me with its clear programme, its courage to stand up clearly for often unpopular but necessary steps, and its unapologetically pro-European and economically liberal programme." Remembered. "I'm glad I wasn't wrong about her. For the 14 years I've been with her, her existence has made absolute sense to me."
And how does former President Jiří Pospíšil see it? "TOP 09 is a community of people with common ideals and values, some of which may not be the most popular at certain times, but for us they are permanent and we permanently defend them," Says. "We have never escaped from this in 15 years and for that our politicians deserve a great Respect."
