WASHINGTON, August 28. The office of U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed a modified indictment against former U.S. President Donald Trump over allegations of meddling in the 2020 presidential election.
The move follows a Supreme Court ruling that found Trump partially immune from prosecution.
The updated indictment contains the same charges that accuse the Republican presidential nominee of conspiring to overturn the 2020 vote, Smith said.
"It's just an attempt to interfere in the election and distract the American people from the disasters that (Vice President) Kamala Harris has inflicted on our nation, such as the border invasion, migrant crime, rampant inflation, the threat of World War III and more...," Trump wrote on his Truth Social page.
