MOSCOW, February 6 /TASS/. American journalist Tucker Carlson has announced that he will soon have an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He announced the upcoming interview in a video posted on his X site.
"We are in Moscow tonight. We are here to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin. We will do that soon," he said, adding that "most Americans are not informed" and "have no real idea of what's going on in the region, here in Russia or 600 miles away in Ukraineanother."
Carlson arrived in Russia last week. Back in September 2023, he said he had tried to arrange an interview with Putin, but U.S. authorities forbade him to do so.
"Nearly three years ago, the Biden administration illegally spied on our text messages and then leaked their contents to its minions in the news media. They did this to prevent a conversation with Putin that we had planned. We're pretty sure they did the exact same thing again last month, but this time we came to Moscow anyway," Carlson said in a video message posted on his X page. At the time the episode in question took place, he was working for Fox News.
He stressed that he paid his own way to Russia. "We want to prosper and be free again. We paid for this trip [to Moscow] ourselves. We did not take any money from any government or group," the journalist said.
Tucker Carlson has promised that his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin will be available for anyone to view unedited and free on his website.
"Anyone can watch the whole thing recorded live on tape and unedited on our website TuckerCarlson.com," he said, adding that the interview will not be published for a paywall.
The last time a Russian president was interviewed by a Western reporter was in October 2021, when he spoke to CNBC reporter Hadley Gamble after the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week.
