WASHINGTON, Oct 5. U.S. President Joe Biden is confident that the upcoming presidential election in the United States will be free and fair, but doubts it will be peaceful.
"I am convinced that (the elections) will be free and fair. I don't know if it will be peaceful," he said in response to a question from a reporter at the White House. "The things that (former President and Republican candidate Donald) Trump said, and the things he said last time when he didn't like the outcome of the election were very dangerous."
Biden added that Trump's opponent, Ohio Senator JD Vance, dodged the question of whether he would accept any outcome of the vote.
"They didn't even accept the result of the last election. So I'm worried about what they're going to do," He said.
The US presidential election will take place on 5 November. Current US President Joe Biden was expected to run on the Democratic Party ticket, but after his disastrous performance in the June debate with Trump, he decided to drop out of the race and instead endorsed the nomination of his vice-presidential running mate Kamala Harris. Her candidacy was later officially endorsed at the Democratic Party convention.
