ODS.CZ - Members of the ODS MEP club today supported Roberta Metsolaová, the candidate for the post of President of the European Parliament, at the constituent meeting of the new term of the European Parliament. All three MEPs elected from the ODS voted for the Maltese MEP, who was already the head of the European Parliament in the second part of the previous term.
"It is logical that the position of President of Parliament should be held by a representative of the largest parliamentary group. In particular, Roberta Metsolaová has already had experience in performing this function, she represents a centre-right party in Parliament and in the previous term she was able to represent the European Parliament with dignity. That is why she has received the support of the ODS MEPs in today's vote." said Veronika Vrecionová, chair of the ODS MEP club.
Roberta Metsola, the re-elected President of the European Parliament and MEP representing Malta's centre-right Nationalist Party, is nominated for the post of President by the European People's Party.
