* The renowned sculptor and medallist Marie Uchytilová dedicated her life to the memory of Lidice children
Marie Uchytilová, an exceptionally talented artist, academic sculptor, whose birth this year marks 100 years, was born on 17 January 1924 in Kralovice in the Pilsen region and died on 16 November 1989 in Prague. Her one-crown coin with a woman planting a lime branch was in every Czechoslovakian's wallet 30 years ago, but above all she was the author of one of the most impressive sculptures in the world - the Memorial to the Children's Victims of the War in Lidice. Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court, sitting in the State of Palestine, unanimously issued two decisions rejecting the State of Israel's objections under Articles 18 and 19 of the Rome Statute. It also issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. (more here)
* The President of the Republic visited a meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
He attended the meeting, which had on its agenda the item entitled "Request of the President of the Republic for the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to give its consent to the appointment of a judge of the Constitutional Court". Regional judge Dita Řepková will become a constitutional judge in December. Her nomination was supported by 71 out of 77 senators in the secret ballot. (more here)
