No matter how the international and regional situation changes, China always firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on July 23.
Wang, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the statement during his meeting with Fatah Central Committee Vice Chairman Mahmoud al-Aloul before the signing of the Beijing Declaration by the 14 Palestinian parties. Al-Aloul is also the head of the Fatah delegation.
Wang pointed out that the conflict in Gaza has caused a huge humanitarian catastrophe and stressed that the solution to the Palestinian question, to this historical injustice, must uphold the principle of "Palestinians own, Palestinians lead and Palestinians rule."
He also called on all Palestinian parties to forge a more coherent position and clarify the goal of joint efforts to create the necessary conditions to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an independent Palestinian state and to realize a "two-state solution."
Al-Aloul praised China's efforts to promote intra-Palestinian reconciliation among the various factions, and said the Palestinian side will never forget China's consistent and persistent assistance over the decades.
He added that Fatah will do its utmost to promote internal reconciliation and unity among all factions and contribute to a thorough resolution of the Palestinian issue.
