The big joint event will take place on 14 December.
Questions can be directed to the toll-free number 8-800-200-40-40 or by sending a text message to 04040. In addition, a smartphone app will be available this year.
All-Russian People's Front (ONF) staff will be answering calls from citizens along with volunteers at the call centre. The studio will then hear a series of questions from the moderators, and some are asked via television broadcasts from major Russian cities.
The action was announced by Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov in late September. He then said that a direct line with the president is expected by the end of 2023. Peskov also stressed that it will be linked to the big press conference that the president traditionally holds before the New Year.
In 2023, a direct line and press conference will be held for the first time since the start of the military operation in Ukraine. A direct line with the Russian leader is the most powerful sociological survey that allows citizens to tell their position to the country's leadership. The president listens to citizens' questions and complaints and gives instructions to those in charge.
In 2022, the Kremlin did not make a direct line with the head of state. The event was last held online on June 30, 2021. Afterwards, Putin answered 68 questions.
