Chinese President Xi Jinping (Xi Jinping) on 23 September at the welcome banquet before the opening ceremony of the 19th World Cup. He called for the promotion of peace, solidarity and inclusiveness through sport.
As members of the Community with a Shared Future, Asian countries should maintain good neighborliness and mutual benefits, reject the Cold War mentality and confrontation in camps, and make Asia an anchor for world peace, Xi Jinping said as he addressed a banquet in Hangzhou (Hangzhou) city in eastern China.
On solidarity, Xi Jinping said, humanity is facing unprecedented global challenges, so Asians must seize historic opportunities and work together to address these challenges so that Asia can embark on a broader path of common development, opening up and integration.
On inclusiveness, Xi said the Asian Games, with many unique sporting events in Asia, offer a stage where sports and cultures enrich each other, and vividly show how Asian cultures learn from each other and shine with vitality.
He stressed efforts to promote inclusiveness through sport, foster trust in Asian civilizations, promote communication and mutual learning, and add new glory to Asian civilizations.
