Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed the need to further deepen rural reforms and make significant progress in building a strong Chinese agricultural sector.
At a central rural policy conference held in Beijing, Xi said China will reach record grain production in 2024, while farmers' incomes will continue to rise and rural communities will remain stable.
He called for the protection of agricultural land, support for technological and technical development in agriculture and ensuring stable production of staple crops. He also stressed the development of rural industry, raising people's incomes and preventing the return of poverty.
According to Xi, all levels of governments and Party committees should prioritize promoting agricultural and rural upgrading to achieve the goal of a strong Chinese agriculture and prosperous countryside.
