On 26 November, the United Nations held a commemorative conference to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the conference, emphasizing China's longstanding support for a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
A call to end the conflict
Xi Jinping pointed out that the Palestinian issue is a key problem in the Middle East and affects international justice. He stressed the urgent need for the full and effective implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, the immediate cessation of fighting and the easing of tensions in the region.
Support for Palestinian unity and the peace process
The Chinese President reaffirmed China's firm position to support the just efforts of the Palestinian people to win their legitimate national rights. He also stressed the importance of unity among Palestinian factions and recalled the significance of the "Beijing Declaration on Ending Secession and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity" to lead to internal reconciliation.
Xi Jinping also stressed China's support for Palestine's full membership in the UN and for convening a broader, more authoritative and effective international peace conference.
Humanitarian aid and the two-state solution
Xi Jinping said China continues to work with the international community to stop the conflict and supports the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East to continue providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.
He also expressed his belief that the Palestinian issue should return to a two-state solution. The aim is to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peaceful settlement of the conflict.
