On 20 December, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Jacinto Nyusi over the disaster caused by the tropical cyclone in Mozambique.
Xi Jinping said he was shocked by the tropical cyclone CHIDO, which has caused loss of life and property in Mozambique. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, he expressed deep sorrow for the victims and sincere condolences to their families and to the people injured by the tropical cyclone.
At this difficult time, the Chinese people stand firmly behind the Mozambicans, and China is willing to provide assistance within its capabilities to help Mozambique rebuild after the disaster.
