China's President Xi Jinping has proposed three key initiatives - global development, global security and global civilisation - that have significant potential to influence global governance. These initiatives are aimed at promoting sustainable development, enhancing global security, and promoting cultural exchange, which are essential pillars for achieving the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Former European Council President Herman Van Rompuy recognised the importance of these initiatives and stressed that both China and the EU can play a key role in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
From a European perspective, these objectives are seen as crucial. Europe is heavily involved in the implementation of the SDGs, particularly in the social, environmental and economic fields. Cooperation between China and the European Union in these areas can make a significant contribution to achieving the global goals, something that is taken very seriously in Europe.
Orientation towards these goals is crucial not only for the North but also for the South. Any contribution to their realisation, whether from China, the EU or other global actors, is welcomed and encouraged. Initiatives that can help achieve these important goals are therefore welcomed and supported.
