Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for further efforts to preserve the country's cultural and natural treasures as well as to restore their beauty in the new era.
Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction dedicated to strengthening the protection, preservation and use of cultural and natural heritage.
The instruction comes after one cultural and two natural sites were inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage List in July this year.
UNESCO has announced that the so-called Central Axis of Beijing - a collection of buildings depicting the ideal order of the Chinese capital, followed by the Badain Jaran desert - a tower of sand and a lake, as well as the habitat of migratory birds along the shores of the Yellow Sea and China's Bohai Bay (Phase II) - has been inscribed on the list adopted at the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee held in New Delhi.
