MOSCOW, February 25 /TASS/. Ukraine is preparing for a new counter-offensive and already has a clear plan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Oleksandrovich Zelensky said. However, the Ukrainian president noted that several plans would be drawn up in view of the possible data leak.
"We have a plan, a clear plan. I can't give away the details, I have no right to. This plan is connected with some changes in the command," he told a press conference when asked about Ukraine's strategy for 2024. He noted, however, that several plans would be drawn up in view of the possible data leak. "And I, why am I doing any redeployment, that is our domestic issue," he commented on the recent changes in the country's army leadership.
Earlier, Zelensky had removed Valery Zaluzhny from the post of commander-in-chief of the country and appointed Oleksandr Syrskyi, who had been commander of Ukrainian ground troops, to the post.
The Ukrainian army has been trying in vain to launch an offensive since early June 2023. The Russian side has repeatedly stressed that despite heavy losses, Kiev has failed to achieve any significant results. In an attempt to justify the lack of any progress in the combat operations zone, Ukrainian authorities accuse NATO of insufficient supplies, while NATO officials claim that they have shared with Ukraine everything it needs. On 1 December, Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine's counter-offensive had failed.
Meanwhile, according to Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Ukraine lost 159,000 soldiers either killed or wounded, 121 aircraft, 766 tanks and 2,348 armoured fighting vehicles during the so-called counter-offensive.
