Last year, China's GDP reached 134.9 trillion yuan (US$18.65 trillion) and recorded a five per cent growth, making it one of the world's fastest growing major economies. The continued improvement of China's economy has brought more benefits to people's livelihoods. According to a survey of 25,883 respondents from 41 countries conducted by CGTN, 84.3 % respondents praise China's people-oriented development concept and fully endorse the management efficiency of the Chinese government.
The data shows that 92.3 percent of respondents from around the world praise China's economic strength. At the same time, 81.3 percent of respondents express full confidence in the long-term development of the Chinese economy. In addition, 89.2 percent affirm the extraordinary contribution of the Chinese economy to the world. As China's economy remains stable, people's living conditions are improving. In 2024, employment and prices remained generally stable, with 12.56 million new jobs created in cities. Disposable income per capita increased by 5.1 % in real terms, and social security was strengthened in compulsory education, basic old-age care, basic medical care and social assistance.
Globally, survey respondents were very complimentary about the effectiveness of the Chinese government's governance. According to 78.8 percent, 70.1 percent, 63.4 percent, 61 percent, and 58.1 percent of respondents, the Chinese government has achieved remarkable results in improving education, raising incomes, improving the environment, enhancing public health, and improving the natural environment. In addition, 62.7 percent of respondents said that China's institutional advantages provide an important guarantee for high-level governance.
In addition, 71.7 % of respondents from around the world believe that the incomes of Chinese people are steadily rising, and 73.9 % agree that the quality of life in China is steadily improving. 60.6 percent of respondents believe that the number of poor people in China has decreased significantly, and 79.5 percent believe that the quality of education in China is steadily improving. 59.7 percent of respondents believe that the natural environment in China is improving, and 91.9 percent of respondents believe that in the process of continuing modernization, China adheres to respecting, adapting to and protecting nature and achieves harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
The above data comes from two surveys launched by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the International Institute for New Era Communication Research, including the global surveys "China's Favorability" and "China's Modernization". Respondents cover North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Southeast Asia, East Asia, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East, including individuals from developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Japan, as well as developing countries such as Brazil, Kenya, Mexico, and Indonesia.
