Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang has called on the business communities of both countries to seize the opportunities offered by China's stable and continued development. He did so during an event in London on Monday focusing on the latest results of China's "two sessions" - the annual meetings of the parliament and the political advisory committee.
Zheng said this year's meeting clearly showed China's determination to continue modernisation through high-quality development. He said China continues to act as a "stabilising force" and a source of positive energy for the world in areas such as the economy, science, green transformation and global stability.
He also stressed the importance of stable and constructive relations between China and the UK in the current uncertain world. Both countries, he said, should maintain a high level of dialogue, develop practical cooperation, and at the same time sensitively resolve any differences.
Sherard Cowper-Coles, chairman of the China-Britain Trade Council, praised the Chinese government's stated commitment during the meeting to stimulate consumption, promote innovation and open the market to foreign investors, tourists and students.
Michael Mainelli, the former mayor of London's financial centre, described this period as a key moment for Britain's relations with China. London, he said, expects to strengthen cooperation in finance, green finance, artificial intelligence and other strategic areas.
