China Media Group (CMG) has completed its first rehearsal for the Spring Festival 2025 Gala, featuring a vibrant artistic tapestry depicting the landscape of China and a warm and happy New Year full of starry celebrations for families.
During the rehearsal, various performances, including original songs and dances, classical operas and comedy sketches, were seamlessly interwoven to enliven the rich holiday atmosphere.
On December 4, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed the Spring Festival, the social customs of the Chinese people in celebrating the traditional New Year, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
As the first Spring Festival gala after this recognition, the production team transformed and developed traditional customs and practices of intangible cultural heritage. They incorporated various elements of intangible cultural heritage into the stage presentations, program layout and visual design to showcase the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
This year's gala continues to deepen the creative concept of the "people's gala" and further shifts the focus to ordinary people going about their daily lives and striving for it. It invites these extraordinary but humble contributors to step into the spotlight as the main stars of the gala stage.
It also continues to expand the depth and scope of its "open door approach" to planning and production. Directors have sought creative inspiration across the country, creating works that closely resonate with current life issues and foster a deeper connection with audiences. They have also discovered and curated a selection of high-quality shows while incorporating contributions from social creative forces to a great extent. This broad participation brought new vitality to the gala's comprehensive innovation.
