DUSHANBE - China's national broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) held a cultural exchange event at Nauruz Palace in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe on Friday.
CMG President Shen Haixiong said at the opening ceremony that China and Tajikistan have deep historical ties dating back to the Silk Road era more than 2,000 years ago.
He noted that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought new vitality to the ancient Silk Road nations, including Tajikistan. The recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation between CMG and the Tajik National Broadcasting Committee is a testament to the growing partnership between the two countries.
Sattoriyon Matlubahon Amonzoda, Minister of Culture of Tajikistan, stressed the importance of cultural exchanges, especially media cooperation, in strengthening mutual trust and understanding between the two nations.
It appreciated the various forms of cooperation, such as cultural days, scientific and educational centres and exhibitions of cultural and technological achievements, which have opened up new avenues for dialogue and exchange of values.
Students and teachers from the Tajik National Conservatory performed at the event, playing traditional Chinese instruments and Tajik national instruments to play the classic Tajik melodies "Friendship" and "Silk Road Symphony", which symbolize the enduring friendship between the two countries.
On the same day, the joint campaign "Seeing China Together" was launched, with media interviews taking place. As part of this initiative, Tajik journalists will travel around China and explore the country's unique charm through interviews, observation and research.
