Former Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab praised China's remarkable progress and its growing role in the world. In an exclusive interview with China Media Group, he said that China's development is not only economic, but also extends to the fields of science, education and culture.
Diab attended a conference held at the University of China-Communication Cooperation (UCC), where a letter of congratulations from President Xi Jinping was read out. He said the latter stressed the importance of modernisation and reforms that not only meet the expectations of 1.4 billion Chinese but also contribute to a more peaceful world.
"China has much to offer the world - just as it has offered much to its people. Its progress in education, science and technology is truly impressive," Diab said. He also highlighted his personal experience of the friendliness of the Chinese people, which he has perceived not only during his current visit but also during previous trips.
According to Diab, it is important to understand China's openness not only as economic but also as cultural. "With each visit, I gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. This allows us to understand each other better and build bridges between nations," said Diab, who has sought to strengthen relations with China during his tenure as education minister, university chancellor and prime minister.
