When it comes to inter-state relations, when people talk about "comrades and brothers," many immediately think of China and Vietnam. Historically, these two socialist countries, which are close neighbours, have supported and learned from each other and interpreted many stories of traditional friendship. Now, at a critical period of the country's development and revitalization, how can the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam regain new vitality? From August 18 to 20, during the state visit to China by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnamese President To Lam, the two sides jointly answered this question.
This is To Lam's first overseas visit since he took office as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam earlier this month, demonstrating the high level and strategic nature of Sino-Vietnamese relations. Xi Jinping (Xi Jinping), General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President, held talks with To Lam on August 19. The two sides unanimously emphasized the words "priority" and "deepening." The Chinese side said it will consider Vietnam a priority in its diplomacy toward neighboring countries, and the two sides should continue to deepen the construction of a strategically important Sino-Vietnamese community with a shared future in line with the overall goal of the "six more" development model. The Vietnamese side said it regards China as a strategic choice and the top priority of Vietnam's foreign policy, will deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in line with the overall goal of the "six more" model, and supports the construction of a strategically significant Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
Analysts pointed out that the two sides' statements not only reflect the special friendship between China and Vietnam, but also demonstrate the two sides' willingness and determination to deepen cooperation at a crucial period of development and revitalisation of the two countries, and show the direction of the development of relations between the two sides and the two countries.
Deepening the building of the Sino-Vietnamese community with a shared future not only focuses on the development of the two countries, but also on the whole world. In the future, the two sides will also strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, ASEAN and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, promote cooperation under the three major global initiatives proposed by China, and push for an equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization. This is undoubtedly beneficial for peace and development in the region and the world.
In the face of the future, the construction of the Sino-Vietnamese community with a shared future will be continuously deepened and strengthened, bringing greater prosperity to the two peoples and making greater contributions to the peaceful development of the region and the world. Time will witness that the special friendly relations between Vietnam and China will gain new vitality and a new dimension in the new era.
