Senior Chinese officials on Wednesday attended the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's legislature.
Premier Li Keqiang, who joined NPC deputies from southwest China's Yunnan province for a group meeting, called for more active efforts to achieve further economic recovery and growth.
Li urged Yunnan province to boost upgraded tourism consumption to create new growth drivers for the economy. He also urged the province to strengthen its role as an opening gateway to the Southwest.

Top legislator Zhao Lei attended a group meeting with his fellow lawmakers from southwest China's Sichuan province and urged them to take more effective measures to meet the goals and targets set out in the country's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
Zhao, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, also urged lawmakers in Sichuan to adhere to the Party's overall leadership over the people's congresses, fulfill their duties as stipulated by the Constitution and laws, and continuously improve their work.

Senior Political Adviser Wang Huning joined his fellow lawmakers from southwest China's Guizhou province for a group meeting.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, urged the province to promote the transformation of traditional industries, foster healthy private sector growth, accelerate rural revitalization and strive for green and low-carbon development.

Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who joined a meeting of his fellow lawmakers from the northeastern Chinese province of Liaoning, stressed the need to expand domestic demand to become the main engine and anchor of economic growth.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring quality development and greater security.

Li Xi, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), joined his fellow lawmakers from southeast China's Fujian province for a group meeting. He stressed that quality development must be guided by quality Party building.
He expressed his hope that Fujian would seek new avenues for integrated development across the Strait.
Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Speaking with fellow lawmakers from East China's Shandong Province, Vice President Han Zheng called for efforts to comprehensively expand domestic demand and promote high-level self-sufficiency in science and technology.
He urged Shandong to take the lead in developing a new high-quality manufacturing force and write the Shandong chapter of China's modernization.
